Ok so I am going to a total stock sleeper look for my Cavy and I want to have the stock stereo in the dash....but I also want to have the after market one installed. I know I could just splice some wires...I'm just wondering if there is an adapter to make stuff easier.
Also...I was wondering how good the factory deck is from the z-types...the mp3 one.

Use a line level output, it hooks up off a set of speaker outs from your head unit, prolly rears would be the easiest.

i'm assuming you want the stock radio in the dash and a new aftermarket radio in the car.. if so schoche int. makes an adaptor that plugs into the stock wire harness and has a built in chime for door and headlamp chime since these run through the stock radio. basically the chime goes through the radio and the chime sound goes through your stock speakers.. if you dont want chime just get the standard gm 20 pin harness. plug either in and you will need to extend wires to where you want to put the new deck.. i did the same thing in a sonoma pickup it had a stock radio in dash and an alpine deck in the glove box.. theives cant steal what they cant see...
^^^Cool. Thanks man. Thats almost exactly what I want to do. Except its not for thieves, but that is an added feature.

glad i could be of service.. glad we were on the same page.. good luck with your install.. and my friends and other installers in the shop thought i was stupid as well, they asked how can you control a radio when its on the other side of the truck.. i fiberglassed the remote into the cup holder and located the eye in the glove box door. glove box could be shut or open and i still had control of the receiver..
what did you have in mind for location????
all i have to say is....... please fix your signature, nytemare. it's Einstein. not Einstine

Not sure yet...I still have the aftermarket one in the dash right now...untill it dies (soon). Than I am either gonna put back my stock one or get a z-type stock one.
I am thinking about either the glove box or the arm rest of the center console for a new deck. It will probally end up being the glove box though as I use my armrest as a change tray a lot. All depends though...if i get ambishious enough I may put it in where the air bag is and make the cover flip up with a touch...kinda like the old cd players used to be. I think its illegal...but so is most everything I do on a daily basis...lol.
We'll see I guess...got a lot of stuff to do before I do this step yet. I just needed to know if it was possible...w/o hacking.
Thanks
