What enclosure and why??
Monday, January 23, 2006 11:01 PM
OK guys I rarely post in here as i am mostly interested in performance but i have recently recived 2 10in JL audio wo subs for free and i haven't the slightest clue as to what kind of box i should get for best all around performance. I listen to mainly heavy metal.......Slayer, system, kill switch engadge, but i also listne to Linkin park, Tenasious D , and some rap as well. From what i have looked up so far these subs have an rms at around 125 watts apeice, and i know they are the 4 ohm versions. I already have an amp i plan on using and have a decent understanding of how to match subs to amps, but I would like to know it what enclosure would yeild the best results in my situation for use in a cavalier.

Thanks for any info

jeff

JL audio W0 10" subs sound best in a sealed box, 0.60 -1.0 cubic feet per sub . I would recommend 0.75 cubic feet and pack the box in poly-fil to deepen the bass. You can just go pick up some cheap $2.99 wal-mart pillows that have poly in them, and use that. Much cheaper than buying it in rolls, or bags.

I'd say 2 cubic feet sealed, with poly fill. That's what I have and primarily listen to similar music.

I'm running 2 Rockford Fosgate 10" single voice coil.

It hits fast for the rock, and as deep as I need it for the heavier stuff.

I bought my polyfill from Micheals (craft store) really cheap. They sell it for making teddy bears, and pillows.....silly craft people
