Friends System Problem

alright my friend has a system problem. hes got 2 12 inch solobarics l7's and a hifonics amp titan class d mono block tx1505d. and there hooked up 1 ohm load.

whats going on is when he turns his pioneer head unit up to around 30- the subs just start thumping - not to the beat of the music or anything- and when he pauses the cd it still continues to do it.

does anyone have any clue as to what the problem might be?

Check and make sure he has a good ground, and check the RCA's.

a friend of mine's stereo did that as well when his gains were turned up too high, hes got a little 14ga ground wire about 3 feet away from the amps, and a 4 gauge wire spliced to 14 ga to run the two amps. Never thought it would be the ground, but I did tell him to go buy an amp wiring kit because his wires are probably too small.

what is happening is the subs are going into a thermal mode and motorboating. like everyone said check your ground, make sure the paint is scrapped off, and check your rca's. if all that is cool go to a local shop and have them bench test your amp because your amp might be bad.

Check the gains, subs could be clipping, amp could be clipping.
