I've been doing a TON of research on peoples past systems and feedback theyve had on them and I've come to a conclusion.
I've decided to go with either 3 10" subs or 2 12" subs in the trunk /w a custom ported box, properly amped of course.
I want bass, don't get me wrong...but in all honesty I DONT CARE to vibrate the OTHER cars...like my friends like to do haha. I like a small amount of bass but SOUND QUALITY is key for me. I listen to a lot of acoustic music, incubus, red hot chili peppers, ect...
Atm, I have stock front speakers, Pioneer Premier headunit, and @!#$ty old 3-way pioneer 6x9's in the rear. The only thing I'm keeping is the HU b/c its brand new so I'm replacing the front 4x6's and rear 6x9's.
I've been told to get a good set of 4x6 comp. speakers and a set of 6x9 2-way coaxials for the back....is this correct or are my friends trying to screw me? Anyone have any straight..non biased info on what would be a good buy for price ratio...
id go with 6.5" 2 ways or components in the front and same with the 6 x 9"s in the rear. Do a search on Infinity systems if you are looking for sound quality.
Don't get 4x6's
Either get 5 1/4 or 6.5's or componets
I have a Pioneer HU and Infinity fronts and rears they sound really good, but I am looking to go bigger and amp them.
Alrighty guys before ya bash me, I spent about 2 hours searching google and this site and found nothing, wtf is the 4 wires per speaker @!#$ on the 2003 Cavaliers I was told they where bi-amped?? if I use the main wires as per previous Sunfire Yellow/Brown, Blue/Light Blue I have next to dick for bass even worse the the stock speakers , if I use the other wires I get just highs *go figured*, how do I get an even balance without crossing wires or going to just aftermarket deck?
Thanks
the 4 wires per speaker is like the wires that go from the amp to ur factory speakers...one set is for the lower notes and one is for the higher ones if im not mistaken
wysiwyg wrote:i would say they bang, they don't really pound so much. but if
you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
That is correct, it goes to the @!#$ty little amp that gm put in our cars for more bass. Run new wires if you want to do it right.
Yeah I know there purpose the high/low notes, but I see online these adapter to convert it over? I even tried it where I hooked the tweet up to the just highs and woofer part to the low which didn't work to well either lol.... Soo I wold assume the Yellow/Brown , and the blue/light blue would be the low notes and the other 2 the high notes? Speaking of @!#$ty amp... how it possible for it to work if I disconnect it? and when I reconnect there ain't no damn difference in sound..
So from the responses here, and from all my friends the infinity brand is the like the god brand of SQ?
Anyone recommened good type of infinity..ive seen Kappa, perfect...ect..

boy talk about a thread jack...
ok, i went from stock speakers, to 4x6 pioneers, to 6.5 infinity. the 6.5's are so much better than the 4x6. and the infinity reference components i have in my car sound way better than the pioneer 6.5's i put in my wife's car...
i'd go infinity just cuz i know they're good. i'll be getting rid of the pioneer 6x9's pretty soon for a set of infinity 6x9's. just waiting on a decent deal.
GO PATS!!!
Read the sticky I wrote up top, it explains everything about the monsoon and options with it.
Yes, Infinity is the "god" brand of SQ.
Infinity referance series is the lowest line while Kappa perfect is the high end.
Then you have the Tantrum and Basslinks, also infinity.
I have 1 basslink and 2 10" referance series 1020w's, which btw they dont make anymore, and they sound better then my friend's 3 12" audiobahns.
I have had 4x6" plate in the front and upgraded to 6.5 2-ways Infinity referance series, and 6x9" 2-way referance series. Well worth the money.
Enjoy.
