First off, 2004 Sunfire.
I have heard a bazillion times that our dashes house 1 1/2 din headunits and i've heard a bazillion times that our dashes house 2 din headunits.
Since I'm gonna be doing a carputer project, I wanted to put a screen in the stock radio place and I can get setups that are made to fit 2 din spaces but I'm not sure if it'd fit.
Since I wasn't sure, I figured that I might be able to make 2 headunits fit easier. Well actually it would be a haedunit and then a flip up screen.
Basically I am asking
1. Does my car house 1 1/2 din or 2 din.
2. Can I put two 1 din "headunits" in the stock space.
3. If two can be done, how would I do it.
4. Any pics of people with two 1 din headunits.

ummmm a 2004 sunfire is a double din. all j bodies 2000+ are double din. if it wasnt, how could i get a double din headunit in my 03 cavy dash?

they fit but players that have button and stuff all the way on the edges get covered up

My 00 fire has enough room for a double din setup, but so cutting it required.
in the 95-99 j-bodies it was a din and a half head unit. in the 00+ it was a double din, which is way you could get the 00+ j's with a cd and tape player from the factory (my cousin has one).
a double din MAY require some trimming, depending on the shape and design of the head unit. you could probably go with a din or din and a half plus a half-full din flip out screen, or get the whole assembly in a din and a half or double din unit. with the din and a half or combonations adding up to a din and a half, you may need and adapter or some fiberglassing skills to fill in any holes left from removing the factory unit.

yes, its double din, i have a double din eclipse dvd player in my dash, Its fits perfectly. I also just recenlty installed a panasonic radio with a seprate screen on top of each other. It fits fin,. You will be ok, who ever says that they are din and half are on crack.
