I have been browsing around and looking at replacing my flip screen and ps2 for a complete car computer. biggest reason is because the hook up to my flip screen for gps is around 2 grand and from my reasearch you can get a pretty custom car computer that does everything for that price.


Now i want to do minor things just to get into this but can i take my old compaq and make a new case and set it up with a touch screen monitor with the software just to enter the car computer world?

2x 40 gig hard drive
250ish power supply


I have in my car already a converter cuz of the ps2 i will be able to just hook it up to that correct? I looking at mp3car.com for a while trying to see what out there.

Power the inverter off your battery with a relay to power it on with ACC
Then use a ups to control shutdown
(check out MP3car.com for other shutdown options)

also power your touchscreen via your your computer's power supply (the Lilliput draws less than 10 watts ) that way the computer doesnt think you unplugged your ts's pointing device.
