OK guys I FINALLY got my Pioneer Premier DEH-P580MP deck yesterday This was my first time installing a deck on my own. Always thought it was ALOT more complicated than it really was. Now that I've actually done one... i CANNOT believe i've been paying people to do this for me! The only thing i "should" have done was shorten the wires on the harnes, but that can be a later project, and really is not that important. I also would like to move the HU forward a tad so it sits flush with the dash adapter. again, not a big thing.

I spent most of the time yesterday connecting up the wiring harnes' before I had to run off to work. I had a few questions about a few of the wires, but never really got an answer, so i took a leap of faith, and basically went with my gut.

Turned out my gut was right. install took about 5 minutes with all the wiring work out of the way. Gotta love the Sunfire's easy access to the sterio

Here's a few pics... didn't take any install pics, but who cares about those.

Before pics? get real! we all know what a stock CD player looks like

This is only the begining... Hopefully this weekend I'll be adding in my amp and speakers .

So far the sound is ALOT better... then again I'm also on stock speakers... and we all know how crap-tastic those are... but it is an improvement.

I only have 1 "gripe." In the 1st pic it looks like part of the HU is silver... well, all the pics i had seen (and even on the box) show silver trim. I figgured this would match with my billet accents... well, that "silver" is really more of a gun metal. But I really wouldn't consider it a REAL gripe...

But i would like to thank you all for helping me out and making me realise this is something I could do on my own. I don't want to name names for the fear of leaving someone out... so again Thanks to all of you.

where'd ya get the climate control knobs?!

Wish I'd known there was an adaptor with a storage hole under it. Mine's just a plain piece of crap piece of black plastic. At least on yours, they made the extra wide hole functional for more than just a HU. My adaptor plate also sticks out noticably from the dash :\

I have a 2-way pager alarm with glas break and proxy sensor. My car is also protected by a 9mm Ruger. I also take the face plate with me when I leave the car & turn down the system before i get to where I'm going.

*knock on wood* I have never had a stereo stolen from my car... but with the precausions I have / do... i think I'll be OK.

As far as the dash kit... I got it at Best Buy. It's made by American International. In the future I'll be moving my master power switch for my underbody LED kit & my alarm LED. When I install interior neons, the master switch will also be there.

The HVAC knobs I got off of E-bay for $50. There is also someone in the interior forum that makes the billet knobs in a different style. Someone else is working on a billet OEM style knob. When he figures that out (and if the price is reasionable) I'llb e ordering a set of those.

The alarm was around $700 installed, and i got it at Audio Express here in Phoenix. Being in CO, you've probally heard of Quality Auto Sound... same company owns them and Audio express.
