ok yesterday some guy followed me home to tell me my tail lights dont work. So i checked them out and well they dont. i have a 1999 z24, only the center light ( on the stock spoiler) lights up when i use the brake. the brake lights/turn signals will light up when i use my turn signals. i checked all the bulbs every fuse in the car and under the hood i could possibly think could have anything to do with lights. crazy thing is, when i use my right turn signal it flashes normally, when i use my left turn signal it flashes super fast. i have no idea whats going on, if someone could please help me out and give me some ideas any help is appreciated.
my reverse lights dont work either, i did a volt ohm meter test yesterday and of course the brake lights went negative.
Sounds like a combination of problems.... check the bulbs first to see if they're good. Move them around to make sure. If that's ok, check that the ground (black wire) is connected to ground. There's a couple of bolts under the carpet inside the passenger compartment, on the sides of the car by the seats...
If the high stop light works, your brake switch is fine. But the combination switch might be messed up, or the sockets on the bulbs themselves.
alright thanx lenko, my car fooled me. i looked at all the bulbs and everything checking for a burnt out bulb. well turns out the altezza tails i bought for my car weren't tight enough. so the moving around and shaking from driving and closing the trunk caused the bulbs to go bad. it was a left turn signal and a right reverse light. so i bribed my younger brother into helping me put the stock reverse lights back on. He drives my old 93 sunbird....so as a bribe i let him drive my 99 z24.
i have a question for you, i posted in the 3rd gen forum and no one replied. do you know if the 99 z24's came stock from the factory with stainless steel exhaust systems?
I don't know. I believe 2000 was stainless steel... but 99 I couldn't tell you. The exhaust on my old 99 had been replaced before i got it. I don't have a 99 sales brochure.
