Well since no one seems to be seeing the post i made with Lanmans sticky, I thought maybe id double post, then post the answer there because i still have questions reguarding amp tuning even after reading the sticky....Now with the amp tuning, when you say to turn all your eq's off before tuning, does that mean i should turn off the HPF for my amp (this is a speaker amp) before setting gains? or does it even matter? and after being tuned, if i messed around with the eq's to get the sound i liked, wouldnt that change it? so wouldnt it be better if you set the eq's first then tuned them, or is there a reason behind turning them all off?

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.

No...it meas to turn off any addition setting on your deck (ie. bass boost....or other setting such as rock, pop, classic...) You want the music from the deck to be as flat as possible when adjusting speakers. You bass should also be at 0 on the deck at all times.
RE Audio
sorry to bring back an old post but I also have a question about tuning the amp.
multiplying watts X ohms, do you use the rms wattage of the speaker or of the amp. The reason I ask is because if you have an amp that puts out 200 watts per channel rms and you only want to use 75 of that for your speakers, wouldn't tuning your amp at 200 watts overpower the speakers? sorry if that's confusing, but someone should be able to understand what i'm trying to say
thanks
if your speakers are 75w rms and your amp is 200w rms per channel, then yeah, you wouldn't want to crank the amp up all the way. turn down the levels on the amp and turn up your stereo to a little higher than your normal listening volume, then turn up the levels so the speakers on the amp are even with the rest and aren't distorting. prolly better ways to do it, but that's quick and easy and i've never had a problem in 4 or 5 years of doing it.
