hey guys...just ordered some kick panels from Qlogic...i know they re not the best but i will try to make them better...i know they have to be re-inforced but ive read to differnt things in my search...some say i have to box the back in with glass and some say i simply need to "reinforce" the back with glass...who is right? or is it all just opinion? thanks guys i know you wont do me wrong
"most" speakers are not made to be housed in a tiny sealed enclosure..so why would you enclose the backs?

agreed, why???
just riding around in the 4 door cav
yea i was just about to order some kick panels as well and after reading a few posts im still wondering why u would need to seal off the back theirs nothin behind the 6x9s on the rear deck is their?
well damn ...glad we got that straight lol ...so i can just re-inforce the backs of the qlogic with some fiberglass and bolt the speakers of my choice then...thanks guys
yeah, seal it right up. you dont want the opposite side of the sine wave cancelling out the music. thats why you would seal any type of speaker on an open baffle. plus you wont get the rattles from the things behind the speaker. I thought that the Q-logics came as a sealed enclosure though.

yea..sure. your 6.5" mid will just LOVE being in a .0015 cubic ft sealed enclosure, lmao
sealing a door skin off...and sealing a kickpanel are two different things buddy
on the real though..the carpet will be enough of a "seal" around the kickpanel....and if you add a little polyfill behind it, it'll sound just fine.

cus i suck with fiberglass and making a back for these would probably be my undoing..but just re-inforcing it...i think i can handle that...now,on to find the right speakers and amp

yea, reinforcing them is all you need to do. you could even stick some sound deadening on the back of them, that would help

if you sealed it up and put a 6.5" speaker in ther that can't handle a small enclosure you will lose all midbass output. some speakers can handle being in a small enclosure like that, but most that you find are built for larger enclosures like the size of your door since this is mostly where the speaker will be installed. as long as you get a decently tight seal against the carpet all will be fine.
