alright so probably like most people i'm sick of having to make cds all the time... i was wondering if there was a way to wire up my iPod to my stock cd player (2001 sunfire).
i was thinking maybe buy a new connector that runs from the computer to the iPod, but cut off the USB port and strip the wire... but where to connect that i would have no clue... just an idea but i don't even know if it's possible... anyone got any way to solve this or any ideas at all? i know some of you are electrical geniuses so i was hoping i could find some help! thanks guys
FM modulator, or see if PAC makes an adapter to work with your stock radio. I think the only ones it works with are the ones with a factory cd changer.
I thought about doing this, but decided it would just be easier to buy a new deck. I got the Alpine CDA-9856 with the Full Speed iPod Connection Cabler from Alpine. I know how you feel and I never burn cds anymore. I had Best Buy do the install and was a total of $325 for everything. I am very happy with it and it can control the iPod through the deck itself instead of using the iPod while driving. You should really think about doing this because it sounds incredible. I am sorry I couldn't help you, but you be able to listen to your iPod, not worry about the wiring or install, and have a new deck at the same time.
If you have a factory Stereo that has cd-changer controls, Peripheral electronics makes a GM Connector and interface.

You can pick these up at Best Buy I know for certain. It's a 1 wire connection to your iPod, it'll control playback, as well as charge the unit.

There are other ways of doing it (I use a tape player adapter, but that's because I'm not interested in upgrading my current stereo). FM transmitters just suck unless you can get a clear spot in the band. If you want to go this route, DO NOT BUY ONE FROM A STORE. Go to ebay, they're WAY cheaper.

i just used a y cable and plugged it into my aux on my sony deck

Now does this just plug into a regular factory cd player without a cd changer?

the deck didnt need to have a cd changer with it, just cd changer capabilities. both the factory cd player and factory tape decks may be capabe of this.
for the cd player it needs to have a button on it that says CD/AUX where the cd am/fm buttons are where you select your input.
for the tape, its the same deal but its TAPE/AUX.
if you hold the AUX button down or something like that it will go to the auxillary, but i think you need to have an input in the back of it like an i-pod or cd changer.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
no mine dont have cd changer capabilities, i just have a regular cd player, so ill just keep using my fm transmitter until i can afford a new deck

Sorry to bring back the dead post but I am going to that peripheal site to get the inteface kit. My only question is that I have a 2002 cavalier base coupe and it has a cd player and everything but not an "aux" button. Will it still work?
