Ya, Alpine Type R's are nice. I had two 10's and they were damn loud. 12's or 15's would be real nice.
hell, my friend has two 10 inch Type E's and they hit hard so I know the Type R's will hit hard... I wonder why they don't cell alpine on sounddomain... Oh well, thanks for opening up my eyes to the world of alpine fellas.
They have Type L's in Europe..... below the E's.

what kind of sound are you looking to get out of a woofer? "what do you think of this sub" is too vague of a question, "what kind of sound quality should i expect?" or "is this a good sub to just get loud and pump out numbers?" would be some better questions, cuz the 3 main things i see seperating woofers would be
1. SQ
2. SPL
3. Streat beater making noise

I had the twin of that sub, the SPLW12. I had 2 in a vented enclosure and they made some pretty good noise.
also you can also have 100 people tell you sub X "hits mad tyte", or "is way loud" but unless they are refrecing some actual data with spl#'s its kind of useless information. if joe blow down the street says that brand B hits loud as hell. but hes never heard alot of systems, maybe loud as hell to him could be 130db's where as loud as hell to someone else could mean 157 db's

my 147 is kinda loud and i paid 143 for each of my kickers....and im running a amp that is way too small

i am so sick of hearing type-r's everyone and their mom has them, im sure their fine n all but theirs better out there for the money...im contemplating getting that mofo 15 myself too

I just find the Type R a good all around competing Woofer. Hell I am going to compete in SQ with one this year
