Well ive been doing alot of exterior work to my car and i dont want anyone f'n with it so im going to invest in a car security system. I dont have any power windows or locks so i have the base model cavalier. Can anyone recommend me a good brand alarm that isnt too expensive and easy to hook up?

Viper 791-XV
Top of the line.
I love mine.
If you go to like best buy, its gonne be like 500$ but I got mine off ebay for $200. There on there all the time.
Regardless of which one u get, the install's still gonne be a bitch.

Anything by Compustar.
I've had good luck with Viper as well.

Basically, I have the 791VX and I love it. If you are going for something basic, IE, sounding an alarm when the doors are open, go basic. If you want a remote start, a pager 2-way system, or more channels, go with something bigger. Anything by Viper you are paying for the name, but it is also the reputation of the company you get with the alarm.

If you are going to do it, you could probally get one for $100. Installed, you are asking for alittle more. The Cavaliers are a PITA to work on the ignition switch with.

Python 881xp or the 871xp if you don't want the LCD remote. I like Python over Viper, but they are pretty much the same alarm. It's just brand preferance. We sell the 881xp for about $500 installed at Circuit City.. It is a HUGE bitch to install even for me, who installs one a week almost at work.
But you can't buy the alarm by itself because Python wont let us sell them without install.
