Audio Equipment, input please
Tuesday, May 09, 2006 10:12 PM
Just looking to see what other people have to say about this one. Planning on changing out all speakers once again.
This is what I am looking at picking up in the near future a set of Focal 270V3 for the rear deck, 2 sets of Focal 165V3E for the doors (My CAV is a 4 dr), the subs I am looking at getting 2 12W7's and making a custom box.
The amps not real sure on what I plan on getting as of yet. But the speakers I have decided on. Just want to know what everyone thinks of this set up.

depends on what your going after, for a stricly sq setup i'd just run the biggest componet set up front i could i'd skip the rear doors and rear deck. if you just want it to be loud stuff as many speakers in as you can fit.

1. Focal is great gear, but you can do better for the price.

2. http://www.mmxpress.com/cdtaudio/classic.html THIS is where you want to go.

3. W7's are pricy, have fun with them lol.

i hate seeing people say "you can do better for the money" when talking about Focal, Dyn, Rainbow or Morel.... Short Hand, you are disapointing me today

Yeah I had a real brain fart going on there for a second. That is life. I have already heard the Focal's, I do no get what Short Hand is saying, they sound great. W7's are pricey, but take this one, you get what you pay for. You little you get little. Enough said on that one. I want loud and bass, since I listen to everything under the sun, from Country to R&B. Focal's like I said, sound great, JL W7's nothing can touch them.

oh there are subs that can touch the W7's dont get me wrong, they are an amazing sub and have some great SQ, but there are others out there in, around, and even slightly below their price range that can compete.. you ever look into comps from rainbow or dyn? if ur gunna be spending big bucks on a high end set of comps, might as well check out all the high end companies.. i personaly would have to say check out dyn cuz they are still my favorite

Just checked out this website. I have to say something, there is no way I would order from this sight. Just for S & G I checked out the Sound Stream PCA 2000D amp, I know where I can get that same amp for more than $200 less than it is advertised on this site. Sorry dude, do not mean to throw you under a bus, just do not like getting ripped.
JLAudioCavalier, yes your correct on that one, but I must admit that I am a hugw fan of the W7 line. A friend of mine had 1 12W7 in his car, turned it up and sat about5 feet from the car and his pant leg was moving from the bass. I love those W7's

I run all Focal, and JL subs. For SQ look through some magazines that's pretty much all any winning competitors really use. sndsgood is right, if you are going for sq don't worry about rear doors or rear deck it only screws up your image.

Ghey, sorry, but im not into the whole "look how much bass my car puts out side the car" sounds like ur out to impress people, in witch case... prepare to get robbed... im not much of a showoff myself... but seriously, are u looking for sound quality or all out boom?!? cuz if you are just looking to get real loud and boom hard, i would seriously consider DD subs over the W7 anyday of the week, im dead in love with JL, but im also a SQ fanatic, not a fan of getting loud and boomy...JL has some KICK ASS sound quality in all their producs from the W0 and W1's all the way up to their W7,.... not a "make a ton of noise and win SPL comps" kind of company to be honest...

Only out to impress myself. Wanting to put together something like I had in my '69. I like my music loud, when I listen to music with bass, I want to hear it and feel it hit. Windows will be tinted as dark as I can get it and still into the base and go to work, and am installing an add on alarm and a GPS locator (I do not know why I want the GPS locator since Mexico is spitting distance).

I can add a voice coil to a ham sammich and hook it up inside my car. It'll shake my pants leg 5 feet away too.

does that ham sandwitch come in quad 1.5 coils? i might be interested in one, only if cut diagonal, the horizontal cut ones are far less efficient

Diagonal cut ham sammiches come in dual 1, quad 1.5, and even the super sneaky octet .7, you can't beat that.
