the lows sound great and i have $hit shackin that i never knew i had in the car before but its not as loud to the ear.
but the bad thing is the high bass from 50 up suck, i had my friend hold the port when i was screwin it in so part of it is 41/2" and should be 5.
because of that i just set the box in the back seat to see how it sounded :-( and now im takin it out.
what should i do????
cut the face and port out and re-do it or give it to my friend and just make the port longer to bring the tune down on the box i have now?
Did you go with the length I gave you on termpro?
Just having it in the back seat may have caused cancelation...which may be why is sounded the way it did. Its never good when the sound can get behind the box in a forward facing set-up.
It should have sounded fine..6 cubes @ 35 hz 77.5" of port...right?

i made the port a little longer also had to change the box a little but i don't think thats the problem. im goin to go out tomorrow i can't remember off the top of my head how big it is.
what happend was my friend did the port and part of it's around 4 1/2 and not 5". i think because of that the box is just tuned to low now.
the old box is still in the trunk and im thinkin about addin 3"s to the port and see how i like it.
I still think you migh be getting cancelation? Is there a way you can fit it into the trunk? That would be a way to tell.
Pics might even be better.

i did the same thing...my box is in my backseat and it's not sealed up (only comes up to the rear deck height) and i'm getting some major issues with the soundwave bouncing off the front of the car and then going back to the rear.
When you seal the box to the car (isolate the front and rear) it'll be a LOT louder. But remember it will only sound good with the windows down, lmao

ok guys stop talking about sealing trunks off......you guys are making me want to get 2 more L7's and seal my trunk off with 4 L7's that should make some noise!
my first box was sealed off from the trunk, and my 2ed had a 1" gap all the way around but sounded great.
right now the box is just sittin in the back seat facin up and the old box is still in the trunk(7.9 cubes after displacment and stuck to the brownbread) so i need some help to get it out.
the lows sound great and its just the high bass that sound like @ss, i think im just goin to make the port longet on the box i have now (in the trunk)and see how it sound's.
couple of things, one your getting cancelation. the bonus of sealing off the trunk is two fold. 1. less area to pressurise and 2. and more your situation. is that when you mount the subs on what is effectively the back wall the sound cant get behind it to bounce of the rear so to speak and come back and interuppt the next wave. when the box is just sitting in the back seat the sound will move back towards the the back wall same time as the wave moves towards the front of the car and this will cause you cancellation. hope that came out right.
as for your bass above 50hz. i say that is what good midbass is for. i try to keep my crossover as close to 50 as i possibly can

i have my 5.25" cdt's crossoverd at 80hz and i can't take them much lower then that due to the fact the q-form's put out almost no bass.
i have a set of 61/2's and tweets for the doors but they are at my parents in ga and im in md :-(.
im goin to wook on a friends box today and im just goin to make the port about 3"'s longer on the box thats in the trunk now (its 7.9 cubic feet after wood displacement, 90" of port tuned to 43hz). and make trim paniles to go around the box and use some spray foam.
Is this port slotted or did you decide to do bandpass?
yea i sealed it up and i have it in the trunk now, i didn't have it up for to long but it sound's alot better. i have been so damn burnt out about car audio the past few week's it seem's like everyone is askin me about something or to do something for there car.
now im workin on a box for 3 10" mtx's for a friend and my bro in law was goin to get a XXX but we are lookin into the new powerbass 3xl sub's for his ranger.
i know someone who has some old style XXXs he'd like to get rid of.
