well, i read around, but havent found an answer to my question. maybe cuz its a no brainer, but idk, lol.
im wondering if i would be better served to use my cap on my stereo setup, or on my air ride setup, or both?
ive always had it on my stereo, but with the addition of air, im confused.
and when i say both, i could run it in line with the power(before the distribution block)
any help is appreciated

just curious but why would you need a cap for air ride?
2 compressors, 4 power wires in all.
not sure which setup would draw more power. the stereo, or the air.
i figure if people put in an extra battery for air, it may not hurt to cap it. but idk, im not all that knowledgable in electrical

How big of a stereo are you running? Have you done anything like an alternator or the big 3? If you plan on running your air with the motor off, definitely check into deep cycle batteries.
i havent done any of the big 3, but i was planning on it. sometime this summer.
the system isnt huge, but without the cap, my lights dim out. should i just run the cap before the distribution block??
also, can you explain a lil about deep cycle batteries??
thx

from my understanding with car batteries its bad to run them low on juice, do it to often and the battery takes a @!#$, when you kill it it will never go back to 100% when you run them low permanetly kill part of the batery. Deep cycle batteries you can run them dead and recharge them as often as you want without the negative side effects.
what would be a good deep cycle?? i thought i read that a red top was?

Yes...red top and yellow top are. They are also a few others.

Red top isn't a deep cycle battery, it's a starting battery.

If you have a wal-mart near you, they have marine deep cycle batteries that are a little better than the optima yellow top and about 1/2 the price.
well, i have a red top tht ive never used. i got it with my girls cav, and it was dead, so we bought a new one, and never re-charged the old.
i take it i should prolly do that?
RIP Saint ........ JBO
the old one may or may not recharge especially depending on how long you have letit sit. yellow tops can be deep cycled but i dont believe the red tops can be

You're right...I have no idea why I typed that. Too much stuff going through my head at the time from the "other" cap thread.
RE Audio
ok.
so any info on where to put the cap??
thx

Seriously though...they do have their uses. I think a deep cycle battery would be better in your situation though.
It may actually be a tad usefull on an air ride set-up where you use short bursts of power. I'll see if I can dig up some info on caps in air ride applications.

if your kinda that worried about power get a isolater? and a yellow top and locate that in the trunk to give you the extra power that you need. with the isolater it wont take power from the cars battery under the hood. It would prolly cost around the same to cap it as it would to just buy the battery and isolater. I would in the future get a lil bit bugger alternator and big 3 that bad boy! hope I might have helped ya even though I went a different route on this.
