Hey guys, I've got a set of Phoenix Gold components up front and a couple of weeks ago my passenger side woofer stopped working. The tweeter still works, just the woofer stopped. I finally got into the door today, and I noticed the woofer seemed stuck or frozen. I pressed on it a bit and it was pretty stiff. So I pressed evenly on all sides of it and it regained mobility, but now only makes sounds if I hold the speaker cone down a little. The cone and the coil look to be in fine condition, I see no burn marks, or smell anything burnt, and those small wires on the inside are still securely connected. I tested the speaker on the other side, and in another car to double check. I'm thinking it's blown but was wondering if something stupid happened that is easily fixed.
In case it is blown, I need a new set. I'm thinking of MB Quart 6.5's or some Alpine Type R's.
Also, I've got a Pioneer, DEH-P8MP cd player, and it also recently started crappin out on me. The main problem is when I eject a disc it will only eject it about an half inch or so. If I press up on the disc or pull it gently it comes the rest of the way out but its real frustrating.
All the audio stuff in my car is about 2 years old. Thanks in advance
Well, idno bout ur 1st problem...but...with ur deck and that 1/2 an inch BS....mine did that too...but one day i was sittin there looking for a cd (i didnt know which one it was) and i kept poppin em in and out and then it seemed to start working well again after ejecting a bunch of cds, i really dont know whats going on...but it worked....i have the exact player you have just pioneer instead of premier version of it...try that, i dont know if it gets dirty or what..but its annoying

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
I've done the same thing with my cd player, putting in and ejecting many CD's in a row, and it does't really get better. It seems like the little motor that ejects the disc can't get a very good grip on it. Still lookin for some more ideas etc. Thanks again
the speaker is blown. my guess is maybe the spyder came loose or something, but as soon as the VC hits the magnet, that speaker is toast (not literally), one of the main reasons the spyder is put on the speaker. It's known as "siezing". if the speaker is stiff, dont bother with it.had a couple of my subs do the same thing, if they dont work perfect, they dont work at all (to me anyway, unless they're subs in a trunk, then as long as they put out straight clean bass, I'm happy)
I'm guessing that's what it is, because just looking at it, I can't see anything that's wrong with it. I already went ahead and ordered some replacement mid basses. Now just need more feedback on the cd player issue, hate to think I spent near 300 bucks and it doesn't last but a couple of years lol
