So i was looking at my kickpanels today...
Monday, May 22, 2006 8:54 AM
Was looking at my q-logics, and i was pondering re-popping these in a smooth gelcoat version. Ready to paint and ALL FIBERGLASS. not crappy abs plastic.

Would anyone need a set? What would a fair price be you think?

I wasn't going to really modify them at all. I'd have to remake the whole damn thing to do that, lol.

You can fit 6.5's from behind with no problem though

Well i have no idea, so name a price you would be interested in paying, lol.

I believe the abs plastic ones go for 120 and up. These will be the same thing, but all fiberglass and gelcoated.

I would be interested, will the back be closed in or are they like the ABS versions that have an open back?
Being all fiberglass im sure it would be MUCH cheaper to produce than ABS because of a much cheaper production process. You are the one who is making them though, run a prototype and see how much materials are gonna cost you, then come up with a labor figure.
I have always wanted a set of kick panels I didnt wanna speand $120 plus on them and dont have time to make them so I hope this comes through.

well...first off, why would you want them to be a sealed enclosure?

MOST of the mids out there are designed to be used in an IB type enclosure such as a door panel, not a .0035 sealed enclosure or what have you that these kicks would end up being. . So because of that, they will be open on the back. Adding some polyfill behind them may give more midbass though.

If you REQUIRE them to be totally sealed, then that would be up to you to make. Since not all cars are the same, if i make a mold of my carpet and floor, it probably won't match yours, lol.

Well I would probably be pretty interested if they were under a hundred bucks, depending on if I'm feeling too lazy to make my own or not

I was thinking around the 75 dollar range. Depending how they turn out and how much work is involved in doing each set

I would be happy with a 2 layer f/g copy of them... I will be modifying them to fit a 6.5" and would finish them myself. You dont even need to trim the edges just use a marker or something so I know the design...

Why don't you whip up a few sets and send them out to your favorite test panel We'll test them and tell you how we like em, improvements, etc... then you can whip up a final set and sell em out.
