amp over heating???

when listening to my sub in my car....after awhile the sub cuts out and then it comes back on in about 30 seconds to a minute....my amp gets super hot and is this y it cuts out? sorry im a noobie...

One, you could have too low of an impedence, two, you could have a loose wire, three, check your gains!

my amp cuts off due to the wrong impedence...this i know....and i also know that pounding the crap out of it for 45 mins in 95 degree heat makes it get a whole lot quiter (sp) almost as if only one speaker is playing......so i guess i kinda have 2 probs....but soon to be solved

ohms......... when the subs are lower than the amp is stable at....it will cut off
