well I sound deadened my floor with 3 layers of fatmat, and im waiting to do the doors next.
Im running an Optima Yellow Top Battery
Polk Momo 4channel Amp
Polk momo 6x9
Polk Momo 6.5
Alpine 9857 HU
Problem is the system just is not loud enough for me. I realise the max i can turn it up to stop clipping is about 24-25, but i need them LOUDER. I want them to be soul churning when they hit. So anythign else i can do.
Oh yeah btw sound quality is A+++++++ could not be happier!!
Maybe add a small sub ? 10" Polk or something to complete the setup and get that lil extra oomph your system is looking for..
Idk just throwing that out there..
.
.
Yes, that makes 3 of us. Get a SUB, or 2, or 3.
well eventually im going to be getting 2 12' polk momo subs, but how will that make the speakers louder??
it wont.....your speakers can only get so loud
What's the power output on that 4 channel gem you got?
power output is 975 watts
RMS or peak?
The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.
You could always get some tweeters and hook them up to an amp.
Also, for that extra thump, you NEED subs!!
If you add a sub or two you will be adjust the amplifier to filter out more bass from the speakers. Then maybe you might be able to turn up your volume higher with out distorting or clipping your speakers. However you have to watch out for clipping. Adding tweeters might make your sound to harsh. Do you have your front 6.5 in kickpanels because if you don't they might help in making your car sound louder. N-e-one correct me if i said anything that might be misinforming.

i have no idea if it is RMS or peak?? idk where to look i guess it would tell you on Polks website.
And they are currently just in the door, by making my own adapter plate out of MDF. But new fiberglass door panels that house them will be in asap. Also how the heck do i run tweeters off the amp? All the channels are already used, would i have to get another amp =/ Thanks.
Hmm idno, but could u run them off the headunit with a HPF high enough to protect the tweeters? thats just an idea i had...cuz i think that 20-25 watts rms the deck puts out at full would be plenty for tweeters
wysiwyg wrote:i would say they bang, they don't really pound so much. but if
you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
i think you run them off the current speakers as a series (for clarity) and use a capacitor to filter out the low freqs (i'm pretty sure its a capacitor, maybe its a resistor, i cant remember)
There's lots of useful information for custom stereos on www.the12volt.com, including building your own crossover (using resistors/capacitors) Maybe your boyfriend could do it if you dont understand it.
