Hi.... I bought my car almost 2 years ago now and about 3 months after I bought it the power mirrors, interior light, trunk light all started to intermittantly (sp?) work and eventually completely stopped. I took it in to the dealership to get it checked out and see if it was covered under my extended warranty and they charged me... well... lets just say a lot of money to figure out this problem. They told me my MICAM module was not being supplied power and it would cost $600 to fix...... $600... for power mirrors and an interior light... what the hell is this module... searching on the internet lead me to go concrete answer and I'm wondering if people on JBO might know? I asked a long time ago on BCJ and nobody knew so I thought I'd ask over here. Somebody out there has to know an easier way than the dealership bending me over and not using any lube for minor electronic accesories.
Thanks,

oh yea.... forgot to post this URL

The theatre dimming feature came in 1994 with the MICAM. (Mid-Function Integrated Control and Alarm Module.) Aside from interior light dimming, the MICAM is also responsible for the battery rundown protection, and turn signal on warning chime features.
I'm sure if you/we can figure out where it is, you can fix it on ur own. The only thing, this is only gonna work as long as what they said wrong is the thing that is actually wrong.
Basically, the dealer is anal raping you.
When we find where it is, you can check the wires or if you need to replace it, buy one from a junkyard.
Also, check all your fuses. Even if they look unblown, look really close, never know.

I checked them all..... they're fine... that's what I was hoping for...... someone to be able to figure out what it is and where to look so I can get one from a junkyard
This sounds like the convience center module on the passenger side just next to the glove box. I know power mirrors have a connection to this in the 97. And I know this module has links to lighting, but not sure about trunk lighting
how hard would this be to replace? Are they all the same for certain years? Is the GT different than the non-GT and is it different for all power options? How much could I find this for @ a wreckers?
Sorry took me a while to repost. I took two pictures of different modules I found. Somebody on some other site said it might be the factory alarm module found in the trunk..... which is this pic
This is what I found on the passenger side... is this the convenience centre?
Sorry, but I have no idea.
You could always start replacing stuff and see if that works but idk. Maybe go find a BCM from a junkyard or something and replace that and see but other than that i have no idea. sorry.
