Does anyone have the Eclipse brand head unit in their car? I was in Buffalo this weekend and saw the brand for the first time at Circuit City. I was looking for others opinion on the the brand and how they rate against others like Pioneer, JVC, Sony etc.

Ya know, i dont see em around much anymore but eclipse used to be the best of the best. And i can see why there head units and subs were amazing. My buddy used to run them when he competed and he has quite a few SQ wins under his belt. I still love there head units..

They're awesome. I'm pretty excited we're carrying them now. Eclipse (made by Fujitsu Ten) makes the factory radios for Lexus and Toyota as well. I've been very impressed their sound quality and features. They have 5 volt outputs too so you get a cleaner signal to your amps.

eclipse is the best of the best, they are ranked number one among audio afficianados. followed by Alpine then pioneer and panasonic then i believe it was kenwood and sony

Elmo I have to slightly Disagree with your list there... but you are on the right path.. Eclipse makes some DAMN nice decks, I would definately recomend picking one up, I myself run Alpine decks at all times, but if it was anything but an alpine for me it would be Eclipse (untill i can afford the Nakamichi that i want
)
if I were to list em it would go like this,..
1> tie for Alpine and Eclipse
2>Pioneer
3>Kenwoods higher end stuff
4>JVC
5>everything else....

I used to have an Eclipse, and I think it was better than the $1500 Alpine I currently have. Open a car audio magazine and Eclipse is about all you see. Just like with anything else, don't buy their low end. In 7 years of installing them we have sent one back for service.

Alpine and Pioneer are pretty close, but neither matches Eclipse for quality and SQ.

I have had 4 Pioneers, a Clarion, and a Kenwood to that point. The first day I hooked up my "mid-level" Eclipse I heard stuff in my cds that I never noticed before.

CDA 7995 > Any Eclispe deck ever made. The True SQ purests deck. Eclispe is going down hill as well in my opinion....BUT I am sure people will jump me for this comment.

my eclipse died this year after about 7 years of service, was a great sounding deck one of the best out at the time. as far as sq i'd take a nak deck over them if they werent always ugly as sin. they always looked like a stock deck from the 80's but now adays most name brand companies high end decks will all result in a good sound system if installed properly.

i actualy know a guy in NJ that is an authorized dealer for a lot of high end equip, nak, rainbow and dyn to name a few.... i was talking to him a couple weeks ago and he let me know about a new nak deck coming out that is supposed to be a lil more on the looks side than any of their other decks... maybe it will still be ugly, i know for a fact its not going to be full of colorfull displays and dolphins and all that garbage, but i hear it should be damn nice

haha i just dont see how u could mention them and then say you could only own Nak if u were made of money... same thing goes for Denon my man, u should know that lol

I agree. They are not what they were 5 years ago, they are going more main stream and super mass production. But I think they are still well above the average head units.
