I would like to add some bass to my car but I don't want to spend too much money. I went to a local store and they told me the best way to add bass was to install a 4 channel amp(Power Acoustik PS4-800), connect 2 channels to the speakers and bridge a sub to the other 2 channels, and add an equalizer. It would cost me around $450.00 .it's not a bad price I think, considering that most people spend more than that on their cars in audio equipment.
Should I just buy a 2 channel amp to power a sub. instead of what they told me. I just want to add some bass to my car that I can feel and hear, I don't care if its so loud that can be head outside the car.
I really don't know much about car audio. Need help.
well. pending on what you have for a Cd player and speakers already (im assuming you have a stock stereo judging from your profile) i would just go out and buy a Bazooka tube or soemthing simmilar. it would be WAY cheaper and its something you can install by yourself.
yes Right now I have the stock stereo, but will be buying the Kenwood KDC-MP5032 head unit in 2 weeks.
why amp the stock speakers tho. if hees buying a new head unit. i would stil stick with just buying a Bass tube. with the new head unit his stock speakers alre already going to be overpowered. but just keep in mind with that head unit theres a setting on it for stock speakers. make sure you use it.
if you are just looking to add a little more bass, i would say this for the best bang for the buck...go to icix.com make an account, find the eD group buy they are running, order yourself a 13Kv2 and then go to soundsthatpound.com and e mail JD for a price on a sealed enclosure built to specs for the sub, then go to ikesound.com and find a Directed Audio refurb mono amp that puts out like 200-300 watts RMS, and ur done, you will have AMAZING sound quality and plenty of bass for the price, and the quality of those products is just unbeatable, i realy think this would be the best route for what you are looking to get
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn
My suggestion for the best quality products, best sound quality and plenty of extra bass for what you are looking for out of an affordable set up is this :
1. go to ICIX.com and find the Elemental Designs group purchase, order yourself a 13Kv2 (dual 2)
2. go to Ikesound.com and find urself a Directed Audio mono amp putting out at least 200w RMS at 1 ohm
3. go to Soundsthatpound.com and e mail JD about a price on a sealed box for that sub.
that set up right there cant be beat for quality, sound quality and price, and plenty of bass
with a 4 channel amp with a built in crossover he could cut the bass to his stock speakers up front increasing the quality of sound dramatically then run a sub of the rear bridged channels. i'd forgo an eq though. just go with a simple 4 channel amp and sub, then down the line you can upgrade the front speakers and if the bass isnt enough at that point u can use the 4 channel to power all your highs and just get a dedicated amp for the sub. except for the eq i think the stereo shop did a good job of suggesting a simple setup.

I've thought about the bazooka bass tubes
Do the bazooka bass tubes sound good?
For now I think I will go with the 4 channel amp. Will install it to power the speakes. Later on will add the sub.

I have owned Bazooka twice now. Back in the late 80's, I had a pair of 4" Bazooka tubes powered by a Crutchfield amp. Far from competition winning, but added more bass than expected. Most people were like
when I opened my trunk to reveal the pair.
A few years ago, I ran across an "open box" special at a CarToys tent sale. Picked up a Bazooka RS6A-HP for $50, and that included mounting brackets. Good deal. I hooked it up in a 03 Civic EX coupe. Decent bass, but again nothing competition winning.
IMO, amping the stock speakers and adding an EQ to boost up the bass is not an ideal idea.
Thanks for the info thoughthardtocomeupwiththis

Yea I know its not a good idea to use an amp with stock speakers, I think I will change the stock speakers before buying an amp and a subwoofer.
now that sounds like a good idea.
The infinity basslink is also an option on an amplified woofer.
There are many good suggestions in this post. What i would suggest though is to sit down and really decide what you want as far as audio. I have seen a lot of people spend a lot of money on their audio by buying cheap stuff and then deciding they want more later. If you just want some bass and nothing else, the bass tubes might be a good idea. They do not require an enclosure like subs would. But I must warn you, most cars I've heard of people who just want bass so not sound good at all. All you hear is bass and no music.
If you are looking for decent sound and bass, I'd suggest upgrading your front speakers and getting subs, and using the 4 channel amp. Like sndsgood said, with this setup you have flexibility, since you can still use the amp to power all your speakers if you decide you want more bass out of other subs and a single amps for the subs.
