hey i just got a new lanzar (MXA282) MAX - ST 4000 watt amp. I have it hooked up to my two new subs as well which are 2 12in audiobahn flame compressions (AW1208T). THEY @!#$IN SLAM!! but when i turned my low pass filter all the way up it started to like make a vibrating noise. It wasnt very loud but it is noticeable and it's kind of annoying. Is there something wrong here? the amp works good and the subs are amazing, maybe it is my wiring as well im running a 4 ga. wire kid and my capacitor is on the way right now... do u think it will stop once the capacitor is installed? someone please help me here
Your low pass filter should be somewhere around 80 hz. if you have it all the way up, that must sound like crap...
lol i had it at like 300 its quieter now... when i wanna get some spl should i turn it up? i have it all the way up on my other amp and it doesnt do it
You generally want to keep your Low Pass filter around 50 or 80 Hz, depending on what you're running in the front. Usually 80 though.
Any higher and that big speaker will start vibrating things like hell.
Every metal piece in your car will vibrate at a different frequency, so keeping it as low as possible (will still making it sound good) means less chance that you'll trigger any of these vibrations.
Whats the highest freq responce your speaks have?
as long as you dont set it above that number it should sound fine.
20-500 hz is the range on the subs.. i had the amp up at 350 and the louder the filter was up the louder the sound got... it stopped once i turned it down but it was loud as @!#$ wheni had the filter all the way up... idk i will keep it down cuz its still loud and i havent gotten to bump it hard yet cuz i dont wanna blow my new subs... i gotta get that capacitor installed too cuz my lights flicker like crazy if i turn it half way up... also.. wat do u think my spl will be?
emi? i just think it was too high u no... idk ill see after i put the cap on it's a 4 farad so i dont think i'll need a second battery... any other things or opinions are welcome.. trying to broaden my horizons here
