Hi guys,
My first post here...
I have the following in my pathfinder and I am going to put them into my '95 cav.
- Sony cdx-ca750x
- Infinity referance series 552i 5 1/4" in the front door panels
- Pioneer Ts-a6975 6x9's in the rear side panels.
- Kenwood 350w amp of some kind...
- one 10" Pioneer sub in an unported box
I planning on putting the infinitys in the door panels and was wondering if I should bother putting the 6x9's in the rear window.
The way it's hooked up by the guys at the Futureshop is the infinity's and sub are hooked from the amp and the pioneers are hooked to the deck.
Is this an O.K. way to do it or did they do something wierd... sounds o.k. to me.
With the sub in my trunk , will it sound better/worse than just in the back of the pathfinder?
P.s. I used to lurk at this site a few years back, and I find what you guys have been doing with your cars is amazing!
My Cav is totally stock and since I'm married with kids and not a lot of spending money, I have to live with it that way hehe.
I still love my plain jane car though
Cheers,
The way they had it hooked up is fine. You don't really need rear speakers that much, just kinda fills out the sound a little more. I'd say let the amped 5 1/4's do the work up front. Still won't hurt anything to stick the 6x9's in the back, though. It's really up to you if you wanna spend the little bit of extra time doing it... You'll have to make or buy an adapter to fit the 5 1/4's in the front doors, but other than that, you're good. As for the sub in the trunk, yes, it'll sound different. Muffled more, so you may not notice distortion, or what it's playing quite as clearly, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Best way is to just try it out and see.... oh, and welcome to the site.. again....
Thanks for the reply.
So I'll need an adapter for the 5 1/4's , shouldn't be a problem.
I'm getting someone else to do the install as I don't have the time or patience to do it myself heh.
The work should be done next week so I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Cheers,
Well I have my sound installed and it sounds better than it did in the pathfinder.
It took the guy 6.5 hours to do the swap, but he kept getting called away to his main job and it took 2 days to get my car back.
He did knock off 100$ for "patient customer discount" hehe
still cost 380$ for the job. ouch.
Oh well it would have taken me a week to do it and I wouldn't have done as good of a job so I guess it was worth it.
Nothing fancy but it sounds good to my old ears heh.
