my speakers started emitting a highpitched whine that goes along with the exceleration of my cav. I think they're blown. A few months ago my positive cable came loose from my sub amp and might have touched something on my 4 channel. Now if I turn the volume real low on my 4 channel, and higher on my head unit, the sound isn't as audible...but i can't get the volume i want. When I turn the key to the position where my stereo is just getting power, the whine isn't there at all at all volumes.
Are my speakers blown, or am i experiencing some electrical problems?

Yup, sounds like it to me. If your speakers were blown, there would likely not work at all.
Does it make any whining noises with the car turned off. If it only makes noises with the car running, then you quite likely have a ground problem. Check all of your grounds, and all of your RCA connections.
PS: the "volume control" on your amp is your gain. It is NOT any kind of volume control. Use Lanman's sticky at the top of the page to set it correctly, or else you may soon be dealing with truly blown speakers.

make sure you have all electrical and sound wires seperated as much as possible. If you do have to cross the two, go at a 90 degree angle.
Alt whine definitely, if it goes with the RPM's of your motor (or seems to) then it'd definitely be alt whine. Unfortunately I dont know enough about car audio to stop it, or else I would have done it to my CB radio I installed a while back in my camry when working for a local delivery company. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with a power wire being too close to the signal RCA's, or just a bad ground.
