stripped screw on amp

the other day i was trying to unscrew the metal cover on my amp (ALPINE MRD-M1005) to get to the settings and i couldnt get it off due to the left screw was stripped so i couldnt get the allen wrench to get it out. How could i go about getting it out without damaging my amp?thanks

Look for a set of tools called "easy-outs".
I know up here they sell them at Canadian tire and most hardware stores. They're specifically for taking out screws with stripped heads, and bolts that have been broken off (you normally drill a hole into whatever is left of the bolt, pound an easy out into the hole and use a flatwrench on the easy-out to unscrew it).

Easy-outs are tapered, square/hexagonal, tools with biting edges on all 4 sides. They usually come in a set with different diameters, but you might get away with just getting the one size you need. Just google "easy outs" and you'll see what I mean.
