RCA wiring for two amps
Monday, June 19, 2006 7:23 AM
I am running two sub amps, and the headunit has one set of sub pre-outs. I have used the y-connectors to split the rac's...but it's not as loud as when I had only one amp? What can I check? Or does anyone has a correct way of spliting the rca's?

unless your amp has a pass through splitting is your only option. add a line amp in between to up the voltage on your rca's

thats not true. you still have to split the amount of signal between the two amps thus making it smaller

So splitting the signal make the signal weaker? What effect does that have on bass out put?

what amps do you have?

Most decent amps have an input and an output for the signal, letting you go from one amp to the next.

If yours does not, i'd suggest getting a crossover of sorts that has more then one output.

Im running 2 alpine MRp-M350's and they're both for my subs. (one amp per sub) The problem Im having is that its not as loud as when I had only one sub...The subs are not out of phase, I double checked the sub wiring. Myr prob is with the RCA cables.

like i said already, check if the amp has rca outputs on it. otherwise, get a crossover or something that has more then one preout on it.

thats what you need. Has one pre out in and 2 pre out outs. One for sub other for rears. Has a crossover as well, so you get certain frequency to the rear and the rest to the subs. Put this in my girls car works perfectly. incase the link doesn't work its a pioneer CD-625. There is also the the CD-635. Same thing pretty much just has 3 pre out outs instead of 2. So you can run the fronts, reaers and subs. Let me know if you have any questions about them. They're pretty easy to install.
