Ok, so i recently posted problems with the dash lights not ocming on after installing an aftermarket stereo. I used the harness for the chevy tracker and think i did everything correctly, but the dash light weren't working at night (when headlights went on)....then i was told to do the "love tap" method...that didn't seem to work either...The lights decide to come on right when i start my car and throw the headlights on, but then i hear a soft beeping sound and they shut off...any other ideas? I think I may have left the red wire from the factory harness free and only spliced the red wire from the tracker harness into my ignition, could that make any difference? HELP PLEASE!
It sounds that you obviously have a short. I would recomend taking the stereo back out and install is again from the begining double checking that no wires are crossed. It may also be an option depending on your preference but try connecting both the yellow wire (power), and the red wire (ign.) both to constant power through an open Batt. plug in your fuse panel. If this works for you just be sure to remember to shut off the stereo so your battery doesnt die(Doing this will still save song and settings memory depending on your deck).
