I got a Blaupunkt headunit put in about 2 months ago. It's a monterrey MP35. I was considering upgrading to an Alpine deck, but i don't know if it would be worth it. Someone local is selling a 9835 with the ipod adapter for $350 (canadain). It seems to be a pretty good price and a really nice deck. I haven't heard alpine stuff before, i just got into car audio and only a couple of my friends have systems in their cars. Two have JVC headunits (i would never buy one, they're both on their way out after only about 6 months) and the other has a sony, which seems to be decent. What do you guys think? Would i notice a big difference between the 9835 and my Blaupunkt?
Blaupunkt has one of the best entry level units on the market (Venice Beach), very strong good sounding unit. Decent company, and their overdrive line is a thing pure pleasure as well.
BUT....
-The CDA 9835 is on a whole other level, well worth the 350 $ price tag as long as the unit is not to beat up.
-JVC's only good line is the Arsenal series head Units. The regular stuff is complete garbage.
-Sony is complete garbage period, the only good HU they have ever built was the MP70 and MP 80 series. BUT they were extremely overpriced, and prone to motorized face plate failures.
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
I have an alpine deck the 9831 i got it like 2 or 3 years ago and i love it and it is still going strong.
there are some many features and that one at the time was around 300-350 and i love it.
but u can customize everything so much on it and even shut ur subs off if u want to and it has a built in equalizer.
agreed on the arsnel series..i had one, was decent...but i got my g/f an entry level alpine for the same price and it had better features then my jvc
i personally would have a hard time buying anything alpine for my car because of how played out they are...the the lambo doors and motegi mr7;s or w/w of the jbo audio world, not saying their not a good product...just overdone right now
i;ve looke into blaupunkit (was told it ment "blue point" in german) but never got it
IMO Blaupunkt rocks. I had one for 3 years and it was still more advanced than most of the new ones people were buying up. When i switched out to a sony, i was so dissapointed in not only the sound but all the features i lost. I forget what model it was i belive it was the Hamburg..possibly, i dont know it was one of the higher end units of the time. If you have the money for one, i say do it for sure
blaupunkt has some funky speakers too, I found a set of 6.5" 3 way speakers at wally world for $25 (they were a display model) for my camry, took 'em back cause they were too small for the rear deck (and therefore didnt sound right) but i gotta say that see-through blue cone was pretty funky.
My friend had one of their decks in his truck for about 3 years, might still have it too. It sounded good, worked good, and never skipped. Good entry level CD player.

How played out alpine is? Look at Kicker or JL Audio and then tell me that Alpine is played out everybody i know either runs out and buys a solo baric L7 cuz its the loudest out there or a JL Audio because that is what they have heard.
So dont say alpine is the only brand that is played out.
now my friend had a set of blaupunkt 12 inch subs, 2 of them, i dont know the modle of then but they were the carbon fiber series and good god them things were the tits. i have never herd that much bass before. clean and just down right retarded loud.

He never said it was the only one played out, but it is one of them...but i guess thats for a reason, no?
