ok, so i hooked my amp up using one of those adapters that you attach to your speakers and it turns it into a RCA signal for you amp... yes, i know thats the cheap way yadda yadda....

anyway, i have evertyhing hooked up and when i trun my car on my radio flickers on for half a sec and the off... over and over.

WHAT IS CAUSING THIS?
im not 100% sure about my ground, could that be it?

Check your fuses. Could be your ground too, but I'm guessing a fuse popped and the accessory wire getting power is enough to get the deck to flick on, but not for long.
