if your talking about tone that is quite high for spl, try to get it into the lower areas anywhere between 20 -40 hz.

Well i am trying to use that as well and with a 6x6 port im getting 76hz. Which i dont want. So hopfully im using it correctly.

The port area it asks for, is that area of the tube.

For example its 6in in diamater so i have a area of 26 Sq/In.

Sound right?

thats not my tone my tone was 29 hz i belive it is one of the measurments on the box. It was the box measurement i believe is what they meant by deep.

it automatically applies a depth measurement to give you your needed airspace that you typed in.

You supply height and width and airspace needed, it gives you back the depth required to achieve that airspace.

6" round = 28.26 sq.in.

If you are using aero/precision ports...you need to use a different calculator. Most of the time you just add 1".

Use this one here..

Dont use option two...it sucks. Go with 4 cubic feet net (for both combined) for those type-r's tuned around 30-33. That should make you happy. Just enter the length and width you want the box to be and it will figure depth for you automatically. Make sure to CORRECTLY enter x-max and driver displacement (in cu. ft. not litres) and put in quantity 2 for the woofers and 4 cubes for the NET size.

Heres an example (I used the correct parameters for your subs)...

Now is that going to make my sub a one note wonder?

What if id really like to reuse my current box and use the aero ports....can it be done?

also is there anything wrong with adding plexi to the front of the box?

The box I did above is for jbodycavalier03

Whay would you think that it would be a one note wonder??????? It says right on the page that it's tuned @ 32 hz!! That is NOT one note wonder tuning.

You can just add ports to your current box if there is enough airspace. But if it's a sealed box...more than likely it will not have enough.

You can add plexi...uit just has to be really thick or else it's going to flex and cause alot of resonation.

Lash, we are using the same subs, so i figured the box would work for me as well.

I understand its tuned to 32hz but alot of people complain about going that low because it isnt good for daily use, mainly comp only. Thats why i asked you, you seem to know your @!#$.

Currently each chamber of my box is 1.5 Cu/Ft To small?

And thanks for the advice on the plexi, thats what i was unsure of was how much it would flex.

Who says this????????? That is COMPLETELY WRONG! Higher tuning = comp use!!!!

1.5 is gonna be too small for 12's. After sub and port displacement...it'll be around 1.2-1.3 cubes...or les.

http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported-box.asp?Ew=34&Eh=15&Dia=6&Xmax=18.1&Vd=.071&NumW=2&Vb=5&Fb=30&Qts=&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0

and this is one the one i am probably going to build

I like it but i dont wanna go that big, so im gunna go with the first design. Where do the subs go? Above the slot? or on the back side so the slot is opposite to the subs

Put them on the same axis as the port...so put the port and subs firing the same way.

Thanks!

Sounddomain is a big one, i think the other is car stereoforum.com or something along those lines. That just seems to be the big thing, is that they think is you tune it that low then its worthless for daily use. But i see now that they are wrong.

I think you may have just misunderstood or read it wrong.
