Check my box please?

Okay I figured I'd try and get some experienced box-builder opinions before I started cutting and sawing.

Woofer: RF T210D2
Rec. Vent enc.- 1.5 cubes
Sub displacement- 0.085 cubes
Port Vol.-0.079 cubes

Total interior vol- 1.664 cubes

Total exterior vol with .75" MDF - 2.262 cubes

I came out with this (L+W+H) = 48.3" within .001" ex. 20.5 x 15.5 x 12.3

So any combination of l-w-h that totals 48.3" exterior with .75" MDF should get me an accurate box, correct? I just want to make sure I did this right before I start cutting. Thanks for any help!

you need to multiply your figures...not add them

L x W x H = cubic inches.

divide by 1728 to convert to cubic feet.

I know that, but the values aren't set quite yet, so I just know the values of the Length, Width, and Depth need to add up to 48.3" in order for the volume to be what I need (1.664 cubes int.)

might wanna check your math again, all you had to do was run 25.5x10.5x12.3 and it's all outa whack at 1.906 external volume

I am by no means a professional box builder and not trying to be a dick so please don't take it that way, just trying to save you a few bucks on mdf

Nope, unfortunately.
You could have 46.3 by 1 by 1 which equals 48.3 when added but equals 46.3 cubic inches when multiplied.
You could also have 20 by 20 by 8.3 which when added equals 48.3 but muliplies to be 3320 cubic inches. A big difference.

You need to find some measurements you think will work for what u want to do and wehre its going and such and go from there.

Thanks guys, I guess it's back to the drawing board. I'm not gonna get defensive about anything since I know there's a lot of people who know a LOT more about this than I do. I'll prolly just use the measurements that came with the sub to build a box. Thanks for the help!

You can still make ur own size box. You just need to decide what size you want the box like for what u want it to look like.

If you want it 2 feet wide then you know ur length measurement needs to be 24, and if it's a 12" sub then you know you need it at least 12" high so go somethin like 16" for the height. That only leaves you one more measurement to figure out and it's really easy with a graphing calculator but without one you can just guess and check so it would work like this

1728 cubic inches in a cubic feet and you want 1.664 cubic feet so multiply and you get 2876.
24 times 16 = 384 so you know you need a number that multiplies by 384 to get 2876 so just try some numbers
384 times 8 = 3072
384 times 7 = 2688
384 times 7.5 = 2880
so you would go with 7.5" depth. That might not work with your sub depending on how big it is. If it doesn't work, change another measurement, most likely the length, to like 20. So then 20 times 16 = 320
320 times 7 = 2240
320 times 8 = 2560
320 times 9 = 2880
so you would go with a 9" depth.

You just have to play around with the measurements that you want to use and if you know two of them, then it's pretty easy to find the other measurement.
One easy measurement to find is the height because it is limited by the size of ur sub, so like if it was a 12" sub, you would prolly want to go at least 14" but you could go higher if you want. Then if you decide what length or depth you want then you can find the depth or length, respectively.

O, and those would be interior measurements, so if you wanted outside measurements, figure it to your 2.62 exterior cubes.
Hopefully that helps some.
