question about stock amp
Tuesday, June 27, 2006 11:57 AM
ok guys on my 02 ls sport i had the upgraded stereo in it... the cd player, tape, with the radio staion identifyer system on it, amp etc.. well question is the box with the blue connector thingy the stock amp in the trunk? please ignore all the wiring i have toyota tails wired up and i had a line converter connected up for the stock stereo to use my system with it...

ok now my question is there any way to get rid of htis out of the system. i jsut intalled a Alpine CDA-9825 head unit in my car this weekend and my 6x9's and 4x6's still sound like they did with the stock unit... well my friends the other night talked me into unplugging this and turning the stereo back on and it sounded great. now my question is did i actually just bypass the amp when i did that or what? is it ok ot leave it unpluged? is there other way to bypass it? thanks guys...

when i replaced my headunit and speakers i just reran the speaker wire. used better wire and then i didn't have to worry about existing wiring/amp.

just went outside and unplugged it... and my rear speakers shut off, so at least on my car, it's an amp for the rear speakers only

This should work...
Find the wires coming from the HU to the amp for each speaker and the ones coming out of the amp for each speaker then cut those off the clip and solder the right ones together and you should have bypassed it. Then just take the amp out and all the wires you don't need from it and it should work off your HU.

I'll go check out some wiring diagrams but that should work just dandy.

K, I found the wiring diagram and as long as ur pinout on the amp is 2 rows and 12 columns and you have sperate subs/tweeters/4 wires for the rear then you will need to connect...

A3 BRN to B9 DK BLU/WHT
B3 YEL to B10 LT GRN/BLK

A4 DK BLU to B11 DK GRN
B4 LT BLU to B12 LT BLU/BLACK

Thats for the subs, and then the tweeters, those come completely seperate from the amp, theres no wires for them from the HU so you would need to do (based on what this diagram looks like)...

A3 BRN to B9 DK BLU/WHT to A8 BRN
B3 YEL to B10 LT GRN/BLK to B8 YEL

A4 DK BLU to B11 DK GRN to A7 DK BLU
B4 LT BLU to B12 LT BLU/BLACK to B7 LT BLU

The only problem with this is that the tweeters will be getting all of the frequencies but if you throw some bass blocking capacitors on A8 and A7 then you should be fine but u might be ok without um on there too.

Let me know if you need anymore info.
