f/g - Holding mdf rings in place
Tuesday, July 04, 2006 1:06 PM
Hey guys, I just finished a box and I had to use a BALOON to hold the ring in place because the dowls wouldn't hold the ring in place.

Does anyone know a better way to hold the rings? No hot glue, please

if you can get the black hot glue, that seems to work for me, or use mdf for legs. you can use a jigsaw to get the angles so that it screws flat on your board. remember though, predrill going into the tops of both, if you go into the grain of mdf, it will split.

use a 2 x 4!

why the hell are you using dowels anyway...they are fragile and flimsy, lol. Just cut a piece of 2x4 and screw the ring to it. then screw the 2x4 to the base from the backside.

Do your glass

When it's all hard, unscrew the screws and cut your ring out.
