hat would you go with for front door speakers?
Thursday, July 13, 2006 9:35 AM
Hey, just wondering what i should go with in terms of size for front door speakers, i want to ditch the 4x6's and go with a little bigger, where i can have them cut through the door panel so that they are showing.
What size should i go with, the next size up, 5.25?
What is a good brand for nice sound quality?
I have kenwood 6x9's in the back and a kenwood head unit, should i just stick with kenwood's?
Thanks for any help

kenwood wouldnt be the best way to go, whats your budget and do you plan on amping them? i will say getting a good set of 6.5 inch components, and amping them apropriately, would be the best sounding way to go, and all u gotta do is use a 3/4 inch piece of wood(the thickness helps space the speakers out so they dont hit the window, make a mounting adapter out of that , not hard at all, but how much u looking to spend?

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn

i would say go to woofersetc.com and find a good set of CDT 6.5 inch components.... like i said, 3/4 inch MDF for the adapter should give plenty of clearance for the window, the K sereis is only 99 bucks, the CL(amazing set) is 140 with free shipping... like i said, what kinda budget are u on? u are going to want to amp any components you buy

If you dont want a high $$$ system, but you want much better then stock sound, mids and highs, you can always go with a coaxial. I dont recommend in such situations anything more then a 2 or 3 way at max. You can get 6.5" to fit inside the doors without moding the door panal.

For security reasons i would not recommend having your speakers to be seen . It just says to someone, i think i can steal it. And there are alot of people on this site i can refer you to, that has had that problem before, and since learned from there lesson. On the sunfire, there are only 4 screws on the outside of the door with 2 7mm bolts. Very easy to remove, and then there are only 4 torqs screws on the speaker ring itself.

If you want to try and deter something like that, Change over to square headed screws and bolts.

Now i know you have a '98 fire, But do you have the door panals with the each tweeter? Some people do, some dont, It depends on the model and where your car was made.

Umm my car was made in lordstown ohio(states) drue domestic, lol well according to the vin#,lol.
I dont have the tweets, just the 4x6's in the doors thats it, she is a plane jane sedan, only option i have is ac and tilt steering.
But i can get five and a quarters put in the doors and cut through right?
Not to worried about people seeing them in terms of theft, beacuse you can see my pod, gauges, tach, seats, and all that, so if they wantted they are going to break in and take @!#$ anyhow; but i do understand were your coming from, thanks man.

You can fit upto 6.5" so yes you can if you wish. Your still gonna have to make an adaptor, in oder to make a circle fit in a rectangle. And doing so will bring the speaker closer to the door trim itself. I used 3/4" MDF, and it still doesnt touch the door trim. You may need a bit more.

Here you can see the real differance other than outer diamentions between the 4x6 plate and 6.5" round.

And here is a pic of the type of adaptor your gonna need to make:

And here are the speaker grills i was trying to figure out what you had:

Sorry for all the edits, was having problems with the resizing of my sig.
