I just put in my new Pioneer Premier P980BT last night. i really liked the wireless bluetooth capabilities that can be used with my cell, which is the main reason i bought it. but after putting it in i can't get the unit to find my phone. my bluetooth on my cell is 'on' and everything. i've tried using my phone to "find" the HU, and using the HU to search for my phone. this is probably a pretty generic question, but if anyone knows a lot about bluetooth and how it works, could you possibly shed some light on my situation. again, the HU is a pioneer premier P980BT and my cell is a motorola V551.

Let me know the method you tryed and ill tell you the other ways to do it...theres alot so im not typing all of them out untill iv seen what you have done...
One thing though, you have to Turn Blue tooth on, as well as making the phone visible for 3 minutes or whatever..it keeps people from seeing your BT phone unless they already are Paired with it.
After you do that, then search for it with the head unit
the only option i've found on the HU is to "search and connect". on my phone, i can go to the 'setup' tab of the BT menu and make it disrecoverable by selecting "Find Me", or i can go to the "Handsfree" tab above 'setup' and select "Look for Devices". nothing happens when i use the "Find me" button.
if i select "Look for devices" on my phone, and select "search and connect" on my HU, my phone finds what is i assume the HU (its about 8 characters long with random numbers n letters). when i try to connect to it from my phone, it is unable to connect. i'm most likely going to call pioneer tonight, just to make sure my phone is compatible, but if there's something obviously wrong i'm doing, let me know.

Well its hard to pair them up using the cell. Plus nothing is gunna happen when you select find me on the phone. All that is doing is makin gyour phone visable for a little while...
You want to set the phone to
BT ON
DISCOVERABLE
You HAVE TO MAKE SURE that your phone is visible to other phones...Its not an obious setting and lots of people miss it.
After that hit search and connect. The CDplayer will say searching. And if it oesnt find anything it will tell you no devices found.
Then select connect, eventually your phone should ask for a code...its 0000
After you get it hooked up i will show you how to set some things up for answering and connecting in the future
i got it all working now! (i dont think i was waiting long enough for it to make the connection last time). now i just want to figure out how to get it to automatically connect when i get in the car. i think i have the setting wrong on my phone.
