alright i had an old CIGARETTE LIGHTER ADAPTER for my cd player laying around. i took it apart and tokk the wires red + and black neg - off of the CIG ADAPTER part.. i connected the output of the cigarette lighter to a usb to ipod cable..... red and black jus like the cig adapter... my question is why cant i get power did i wire the usb right? jw... if anyone knows anything or anyway i can solve my problem jus let me know

also i used a battery charger to test my lil wire? would that be the reason.? thanks

The two types of connections aren't compatible. There's a lot more to a USB cable than a - and a + wire. Are you trying to get the iPod to play over the HU, or just trying to get it to charge in the car?

charge .. i know usb also has two data inputs..

Just save the heartache and buy a cheap iPod adapter for the cig. plug. Like $10 ay Best Buy or somethin. You can't always rigger-nig somethin up and have it work like it does in theory.

why? its low watt charging, thats good for a battery

usb charging was one of the best ideas, especially for the iPod
