Fuzzy screen......grounding RCAs?
Monday, July 31, 2006 11:02 AM
I saw a post on here before about someones screen having horizontal lines on it when playing PS2. Mine does the same thing but not when the key is just turned on to the on position but only when the car is running. I heard someone tell them to grond the rca cable. IM not running a power inverter just a DVD player to a control unit then to my in dash screen. If I do need to ground the cable do i need to cut off the insulation to get to the ground wire or is it just the metal shielding at the end of the RCAs? Is there any other alternatives to get this to go away?

what screen and dvd player are you using?
also, where are you getting power and ground for the 2 units?
It sounds like you may be getting "engine whine" in video format.

Yeah, do you have the signal wire and power wire near each other?

What i have is a sony xav-7w tft screen with the brain mounted under the seat of the driver. The dvd player rca's run into the brain but the wires arent too close to any other wires. I have a 10 disc cd changer hooked up and a farenheit dvd player.

try grounding the outside part of the video RCA. i did that to my ps2 input and it took care of any video noise
