okay here is the problem. anyone who has an alternator go bad will regocnize this. Well i was driving and all my dash lights went on at once and then the car died and came back on and drove fine for a little bit. anyways i thought the alt was bad, and a number of people said the same thing. so i took the alt off and took it to advance auto to get it checked and they said it was working perfect. so now i am back to square one.
could it be a bad ground? bad computer? i hope not.

my sunfire will do the same thing every once in a while, when it does it's when I put the clutch in from 2nd or 3rd and slowing down for a turn. dealerships could never figure it out nor I. however when my vss started acting up, the problem happend more frequently. I've got a rebuilt tranny going in this weekend w/ new vss, maybe it will be cured?
my 99 cavalier did this and i found it to be a power wire that goes from the battery to the fuse box under the hood
the guys at a local shop said it could be a loose wire or possibly the cluster going bad. he said they are known for that too.
looks like i'm going to be going through all the wiring of the car this weekend. maybe a good excuse to run new wires too. ;O) oh well.
i think the battery is fine because the stereo and stuff with still work just the cluster and acceleration quits. oh well if i figure it out i will let ya'll know.

this happened a long time ago in a probe i drove. i cant remember exactly what was fixed. but i remember replacing the battery and starter at some time while i owned the car.
i know, not the same car, but the same things were happening to the car.
hope this helps(:
