So is there a way I can still use my stock deck with subs?
I really would rather keep the stocker because well, it looks stock., and gets the damn job done.
yes.
You will need a "line out converter" (LOC) to get a RCA output and the amp will install like you had an aftermarket HU. Also, depending on which HU you have, you may need to get your turn-on lead at the fuse box or ignition harness.

I have a 2001, CD Am/Fm. No tape.
Sorry for being a little slow on response, work is killing me. Anyways, you should have the 24pin radio harness and it most probably doesn't have a turn on lead in it. So to do this the professional way you need to tag the brown wire at the ignition harness, (it's the second accessory lead that controls the RAPS system, ie. radio) it's not that big of a deal. Make sure you fuse the line as close to the ignition harness as possible, 7.5amp fuse should be enough for 18awg and larger for an amp turn-on. Of course if you want to hack it, you can wrap the wire around a fuse blade at the fuse box on a high current line that is acc of ignition but I would never do/recomend/condone it. Ever. I hope this helps, any other questions?
Could I get this locally at like a radio shack??
Hey gadgetfire, that is how it was donw back in the day, you might not remember that. Also, why would you not do it/recomend/condone it? Seeing how that was one of the ways it was done, really should not be a problem today either.
GIT 'ER DONE!
It's sloppy and not profesional. Plus, if what ever circuit you're using goes out, so does the amp and depending on what else is already on that line, you may be overloading the circuit. To make matters worse, trouble shooting becomes more complicated.
P.S. I've been installing for 14 years.
I hear you on that one. That is the only draw back on it, all the what if's? But it is a good, it will do for now thing. If you are short on time and what not. Really would not recomend it to be a permanent place for it though. As in being, do I have everything connected properly, and does it now work. Then get your power from another source.

why not get a line convertor so you can switch to rca's for the input on the amp, or get an amp with high level inputs... Also look into getting an amp that has smart engage and you wont have to run a REM wire.. I hooked an amp to my cav's stock radio with a OEM radio using line convertors and a smart engage amp, no probs here.
