amp over heating

I keep having problems with amps over heating and cutting off and coming back on. Could I just be pushing it too hard ? I even have a capacitor (and cant spell). I'm using a 1000w sony amp. Any suggestions , besides lose the sony?

Put it where there is going to be some air flow on it. Where do you have it mounted?

I've got it mounted to the back of the rear seat.

Are you sure you have the gain set properly?

Use some cooling fans. check the gains and make sure that the ohm load on the amp is correct.

Amp is not going to dissipate heat as well mounted vertically. Mount it flat or try a couple fans.

put the seat down and it is horizontal.....or flat for you ohvrolla

what do u have the amplifier bridged at? Most sony amps cant do much more than stereo x2@2ohms if u have it bridged mono x1@2ohms that'd be your problem.....

Get some 3/4 tubular washers and mount them to you amp on the bottom side, then mount 1 or 2 fans under the amp and hook them to turn on when the amp comes on. Should help
