what year? alotta the cavs/fires there is a plastic piece that u need to knock out in order to get the cd player in flush,if u have a hammer or sledgey laying around just knock the plactic triangle piece out, usually has a hole in it b/c thats what stabilizes ur factory radio....that should do the trick....

either you need to get the installation kit that makes the cd player stick out of the dash either .5" or1" or do what i did and cut the back of the dash out of the car. thats the better way cause you can then flush mount the cd player.

you have to trim plastic in there. take a dremel and cut it out. it's what holds the big pin on the back of your stock radio to keep it from bouncing. one thats gone mess with moving the wires off to the side as much as possible and it should go in easier.
