tell me if this will work, involves switches

ok im a dumbass and i took all the stock audio wireing out when i put my system in
say what you will, i know it was stupid

anyways now that i will have a baby riding in my car alot, i still want to keep my system

now my idea is

wire the head unit up to all the speakers like it was and put a switch on it

then run another set of speaker wires from the amp to the speakers, and then put a switch on it

it would look sorta similar to this very very rough and crappy drawing

i thought about it and i dont see why it wouldnt work
any ideas, thoughts?

What is your objective here?

i would just suggest running the 4 channel amp and turning it down when the baby is in the car. you are making it way to complicated.

im trying to make it so i dont have to keep changing all the settings on the head unit, just flip a switch and have the head unit itself power the speakers, instead of the amp and the sub being on

will it work, i understand its complicated, but would it work?

I'm not understanding your drawing very well. What you could try is putting a switch in the remote wire that goes to your amps, instead of multiple switches for whatever. The only Issue I would see with that is, what happens when the HU and the amp are both trying to power the same speakers at the same time?

i understand what you are doing but seriously, if you keep the sound way down, the eq settings wont be an issue

I may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.

If your head unit has a custom EQ setting feature, then just have a custom setting that has the bass ramped down as well as lowering the other areas. Then all you have to do is select that eq setup and keep the volume down.

Yeah... umm... I don't think that'll work good, unless your headunit can shut off it's internal amp like mine can. Then just tie in a switch in the remote line to turn on/off the amp, and turn the headunit's amp on and off.

yep thats what im trying to do

the switch on the headunit will act as the off button

Keep the volume turned down and put a switch on the remote amp turn on for the subs so you can turn that amp off when the baby is in the car...

Yup, a single pole switch in series with the romote turn on will let you decide whether you want the amp on or off.

You just wanting to turn the sub off?

also if you get a good cd player it will most likely have subwoofer controls and yu chould be able to turn off your sub through that instead of using an extra switch that you have to munt somewhwere. thats wut i do when the kids get in the car. and usually a msic content change. for their moral values.

why not run the remote power wire for the amp through a toggle switch? that way you can turn the amp on and off... that's what i did so my son wouldn't be blasted out when i had my amp

just get him earplugs lol

in our hhr we have the going thru the rear so when we fade the radio the rear speakrs and sub loses power. made it pretty simple.

one other nice thing about the switch, and i should've mentioned this earlier, is that 2 years ago i had my amp CRANKED and got pulled over... the cop thought it was my exhaust because it hit a note right at the same time that i accelerated, i have flowmaster, but it ain't that loud haha but yeah with the switch you can turn it off real quick if ya got it blasting and go by a cop... cause they may try to right you a ticket for loud exhaust!!!

btw... i got off on the ticket i was driving a tow truck at that time and was wearing my work uniform when i got pulled over... that's the best way to get out of a ticket, drive a wrecker!!!
