Quality replacement speakers?
Monday, October 23, 2006 10:25 PM
I recently bought a beater and only one of the four speakers works so I was thinking about replacing them and also replacing the ones in my Cav with better quality speakers. I'm an SQ guy myself but I don't follow audio trends much so I don't know what is good and whats not so I ask you, the audiophiles, what are some good brands/models I should consider purchasing?

Well, even in the beater I want some decent speakers. I was thinking when I replace the speakers in my Cav I could just take all the Polk speakers that are in it now and put them in the beater. As for a budget, well, I'm not rich so I'll have to be a little prude with my cash.

Do you want to run components? Coaxials? Stock size, or create a baffle to allow for different sizes? Do you want to amp them? Do you have a substage or plan on adding one later? Do you want to upgrade just the fronts, or fronts and rears? Do you want to spend $100, $200, $300, $400?

Answering these guys should help narrow it down alot.

well, just get some reasonable speaks for your beater....and for the cav depends on what to you good sq is. i like a good sq but not too picky. if you're like me you know what sounds good to you. depends on your head unit too how powerful and eq and stuff.

Its a beater, get some flea market junkers. (visonik, and MA audio can help you with this), it will beat stock, and sound fine for the beater.

Infinity makes some very decent 4x6 and 6x9's if you go with the Kappas and they are a pretty decent fit....you will need to make a baffle for them. Put them on a 4 channel amplifier and give them about 50w each and it will really sound good. Not competition good, but much better than any factory set-up.

and pick would really make sense as what i meant to write. actually i hit the "P" instead of the "L" but instead of flaming someone you could just recognize that i was thrying to give him some other ides. i didnt say they were the best i said i like what i heard from them. its not like i said he chould get lightening audio at walmart cuz there the bestest speakas i heared. come on try to lighten up a little bit.

thank you. infinity kappa is my personal preference vs comparable speakers as far as pricing and availability. and if you live near a circit city check the open box table for some good deals. i got some 6.5" kappas for $45
