Not a Jbody, but working on my other vehicle.

Started working on a fiberglass box for the spectra 5 this weekend.

Originally the vehicle was going to get 2 19ov2 sealed in a fiberglass box. But being that the girlfriend drives it 2x as much as I do. We decided against it.

So new plans came to mind. Either an 11ov2 or 11kv2 in a fiberglass box that fits in the left recess in the hatch, kinda underneath the rear speakers.

If I decide to run a nine.4, the 11kv2 will be the sub used, as 150 watts isnt really enough for the 11ov2.

I need to make sure the 11ov2 will fit once all the glass is layed. Then a nine.2 on the 11ov2 and nine.2 on the front components will be used.

First step was to measure the recess with packaging peanuts and a box.

The recess comes out to be about .5-/6 cubic feet. Perfect volume for either an 11kv2 or 11ov2.

Im not realy sure if I should get the speaker in black....

or silver.....

We have black carpet at work that matches the texture and color of stock almost perfect.

First step was the decide on what side to use for the speaker.

I choose the left side becuase the right side has the hatch light, and ide like to keep that.

The first step was taping off the area. I recommend taping from the bottom and work your way up. This will prevent any resin from dripping between the tape and getting on the carpet.

The next step was to apply tinfoil to allow the mold to be pulled out from the cavity. The tinfoil also releases from the fiberglass easier than the tape.

I also apply a little bit of double sided tap to the tinfoil to hold it to the side wall.

I made a cardboard mold of the opening. Then Chris programed the CNC to cut it out on some scrap wood.

Turned out pretty good, it needed to be sanded a little to fit exactly how i wanted it to.

Then I actually lined a little bit of the inside with some fine mesh. This allowed the fiberglass to hang on to something in the inverted position.

Didnt turn out as well as I would have liked, but it worked good enough.

Started with the glass. I have two-three layers on the bottom parts, and one layer on the top, Once its cured, I will then pull it out and reinforce it from outside of the vehicle.

Chris and I working on the cars:

For those that dont know, Chris aka Mandos on alot of forums. Is putting 32 6.5" subwoofers into his tC. Its been a year and 1/2 in the work. haha Almost done now.. It will play music today, then just needs to be filled and painted.

Screw it down or velcro or something, I would assume anyway

^^ screw it to what? you gonaan run sheet metal screws though it and hop you punncture the 1/4 panel, fuel filler neck, wiring harness, ect.. plus you wouldn't want it permanent so you can pull it out to get to the lights and stuff when the bulbs burn out. I've heard of people using velco but that doesn't sem real secure if your throwing the car aorund in hard corners and stuff liek that.

velcro...

3 strips of velcro...Its actually a pretty tight fit just by itself. But you dont want a 40lb enclosure flying around when you get in an accident.

And there will be video of the 32 eu-700s when its done...he has one video of the shell playing free air before it was part of the vehicle.
