current draw question.
Monday, November 06, 2006 9:21 PM
i have a 2001 cavalier, stock 105A alt. i want to get a hifonics bxi 1606d. run it at 1 ohm, 1600wrms, to 2 12" type-R's. i need to know if that is going to be too much for my electrical system to handle..

also would running another battery parallel help at all with no h/o alt?

well how much amperage does your amp draw (add up the fuses on it) but just guessing im going to say no. im running pushing 1200 watts or so without any issues at all. tehre are guys here pushing more then that.

go to the website that makes the amps and find out what size fuses it has. that will give you basically a maximum amperage for the most part. but year are alts can handle a good sized system without allot of concerns. one of the things gm got right i think.
