Well, uhh.... I have some crazy friends. They plugged a Comp into a wall socket, I'm gonna find out how they hooked it up. Pretty interesting, haha.

Clicky

This is our local "competition" Circuit City, I havn't blown anything up at Best Buy yet.

wow thats soooooo cool, I would have never though it doing that with my subs

/end = sarcasim

I am not surprised that a comp didn't hold up to that. Not something i would recommoned anybody doing.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend doing it, haha. They're just crazy, and this isn't the first sub they've done I guess. I'll quote them

Quote:

took an ext. cord, cut the end to have bare wire...wired up the woofer and plugged it in!!! Shocked @!#$in crazy...i've done many subs..the comp was the fastest to blow! i did a Rockford p3 once...it took about 1min or so..lasted alot longer than the kicker...this also shows how much a woofer can handle....the mtx 9500 would not blow with it plugged into a wall socket...it went for longer than 6 mins! they got tired of waiting so they gave up and stopped!

Lets not forget your comparing the lowest level kicker to a high end fosgate try and L5 or L7 i bet the outcome will be a little different. I worked at best buy for 4 years and even with the great discount would never put anything fosgate in my car quality has gone down it the last few years. I had an old school power 800a2 and 800a4 they were probably the last good amps fosgate ever made.

L7 will blow when plugged into the wall....solox 18 wont though....although free air might not be the best thing for subs

i pluggee all kinds of subs into the wall before. anything low rms( i call low under 1000 watts) is gonna go poof especially free air. The longest lasting junk sub that i can recall was the audiobahn dual 12 bandpass box that CC used to sell. It lasted a good two mins but the subs were boxed. Did create a horrible coil smell though

Steven Clark I see you are from Poughkeepsie. Im from newburgh. What store do you work at? best buy at the mall or CC kinda across from it?
