Amp Headunit Help

Ok well My plans for the Subaru I wanted Fell through...so I found a new project car, and hopefully will be picking it up next week...(cross's fingers)

Right now I am in the process of an Audio Overhaul in my jeep(Pretty much replacing everything but the amps I bought in the spring) So I'm not going to spend much until next year, especially since I want to do this right the first time. But I would like to go ahead and purchase the Head Unit now and possibly the amps.

So I have a few questions.

Head Unit
I need something that is going to be best for competition. My problem...It needs to look nice as this car will be a show car as well. Im inclinded to go with an Alpine Unit and add a LCD.

But it doesnt look as good as a indash LCD Unit.

Can an All in one unit be as powerful as some of the higher end alpines and Eclipse units?

What other brands would you look at?(I always loved my blaupunkt)

Amps
What Amps...

I will give away my most likely sub Choice. RE XXX.

I have looked at US AMPs as thats what is linked to on the RE website, as well as Phoenix Gold.

Any other brands you recommend? And what is the Best US AMP model? AX or Xterminator Series?

Thanks guys...

i'm a soundstream/JVC kinda guy....

you really should make a decision though, show or sound competition...

ever see a winning dB show car? maybe sound quality, but not dB...

Nope, but it will only be a mild show car as many rules restrict me from what interior modifications I can do. I just want it to flow...

I have seen plenty of cars that win dB comps and I could definitely make what I want work and still stay within the rules.

Once again, I recommend this

key points:

Quote:

7-band iEQ
on-board 5.1 surround-sound decoding
3 volt front, rear, center channel, and subwoofer preamp outputs
Giga MP3 capability — will play up to 100 hours of MP3/WMA files burned onto a single recordable DVD
plays DVDs, DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs, CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, Video CDs, and MP3/WMA/WAV discs

and my favorite parts... individual speaker level control and subwoofer controls (level, phase)!

if yourjust competing db then any headunit that sends a strong signal out back should be fine imo
