Im switching my stock 4x6's to 6 1/2's and im getting components instead of coxials, Do i need to amp them or will i notice a big difference in sound just because i have 6 1/2's now? So what im asking is if i get the 6 1/2's will i need to amp them?

You don't necessarily have to run a separate amp other than your head unit's amp, but I like the sound with the extra power

you wont be able to get their full potential depending on what wattage they are wanting. like... cranking the volume up trying to milk more out of them when only putting 10-11 watts to them is going to do more harm than good... then u get say 150 watts rms going tot hem, you find they are clearer, cleaner, and 10 times as loud, all though the range of volume... lanman basicaly said it short and sweet, needed? no, prefered? yes

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn

if u got the baffles, why have someone else do it? disconnect ur old speakers, get some speaker wire... use the adapter/baffles to mount the 6.5 inch woofers where the stockers were. then play around with tweeter placement (duct tape rolled backwards is good), then cut the holes and set the tweeters in, it isnt as hard as u think man, then just wire them up... ur crossovers should be labled to where the wires go

Amps make stock speakers sound better. Power is all the difference. Obviously your serious or you wouldn't have bought components. Not amping them would be a waste in my opinion. If you have to wait to get the amp it will be worth it trust me.

its kinda like dating a hot chick, yea dating her is nice and everyone gets to see you with a hot chick, but its much nicer if you get to go all the way with her.

aftermarket speakers will sound improved over stock but you really get your moneys worth when you amp them. they will sound so much better.
